Many young adults are ready to move out on their own, but don’t have basic cooking skills! They usually find themselves eating ready-made convenience foods, or worse, fast-foods. This series of 3 Sundays from 11-2pm is a great opportunity for them to learn basic skills that will last a lifetime and will provide a great base to expand on. They will learn knife skills, sheet pan dinners, pasta dishes, and breakfast. They will also learn how to transform leftovers into delicious lunches that can be packed and brought to school or work. They also will learn how to plan! Menus for the week, creating shopping lists, and spending their money wisely. This class series will last a LIFETIME!
Curriculum:
WEEK ONE (Sunday July 14th, 11am – 2pm)
Basic kitchen skills, including sanitation, knife skills, mise en place, sheet pan dinners that include meats and vegetables, cookies, and transforming leftovers into lunches!
WEEK TWO (Sunday July 21st, 11am – 2pm)
Two pasta dinners with vegetables, brownies, meal planning and grocery lists
WEEK THREE (Sunday July 28th, 11am – 2pm)
Breakfast! Eggs five ways, make-your-own pancake/waffle mix, bacon and sausage the easy way, and breakfast cookies
**BIO – Latia Daquila, Health Coach and owner of www.10percenthealthier.com
My name is Latia Daquila and I am a health coach. I believe that the best way to get healthier and to acquire good habits is to change just one or two things at a time, instead of making drastic changes that are unsustainable. Have you struggled to make new health habits stick, or do you even know where to start? My approach is to listen to your goals, learn about how you are doing things now, and make small improvements that produce big results in how you look and feel; no judgment.
One of the biggest steps we can take towards better health is cooking for ourselves at home. I teach how to improve cooking skills to make that happen more easily and share easy and delicious recipes to make eating more enjoyable.
I am a mother of three boys, and I have a degree in nutrition and dietetics from Bastyr University. I love to cook and bake and enjoy going for walks with my dog, Dozer. I believe in life balance and self-care through good food, exercise, and meditation.
