Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of India, is translated from Sanskrit as “the science of life.” It is more than 5,000 years old, with roots in Vedic culture. Ayurveda emphasizes balance—in body, mind and spirit—as essential to achieving and maintaining wellness. This balance is a critical component in healing chronic health problems.

Join the Well Fed Community Garden and wellness mentor and cooking instructor Lisa Mitchell for an informative and hands-on cooking class, featuring fresh vegetables straight from the garden. The menu will be entirely vegan, gluten-free, and delicious.

Menu will include asparagus soup with leeks and tarragon, tossed salad with roasted beets, black eyed pea salad, and roasted sweet potatoes.

Lisa is now a wellness mentor and Ayurvedic cooking instructor based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Lisa teaches how to combine foods and spices creatively to support vibrant health and how to manage chronic pain and illness with an Ayurvedic approach to diet. Lisa is also the author of Sacred & Delicious: A Modern Ayurvedic Cookbook. During the past decade, Lisa has cooked for hundreds of participants in Ayurvedic clinics and meditation courses. She also shares her experiences about the noble and sacred undertaking that cooking truly is.

Please contact [email protected] for any specific food allergies one week before the event. We will do our best to accommodate everyone and it helps to have prior notice.

All classes will be held outdoors, rain or shine. Please wear weather appropriate clothes and shoes. No dogs.
