Cooking Matters for Child Care Professionals teaches both home- and center-based ECE professionals about healthy meal preparation and creating a positive food environment for the children in their care. This hands-on, discussion-based training covers topics such as choosing healthy foods that appeal to children, encouraging positive mealtime attitudes, safe cooking with confidence, and menu management on a budget. You will engage in cooking and preparing nutritious meals that meet the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines.

The training is free of cost to you. You will receive a manual highlighting the information covered in the course and a variety of recipes, essential kitchen equipment, and 8 hours of continuing education (2 hours social emotional development, 3 hours healthy and safe environment, 1.5 hours professionalism, 1 hour developmentally appropriate practices, 0.5 hour family relationships).

The training location is at Broomfield FISH office building and is appropriate for in-home child care providers and center-based ECE staff, including classroom, food-service, and administrative staff. For safety reasons, there are no children permitted at the training. Lunch and snacks will be prepared and provided as part of the training.

*Registrations are processed electronically; tickets do not need to be printed and brought to the training.
