In this beginner’s workshop, student’s will learn to prepare several classic Mexican seafood dishes along with complementary salsas and sauces. Mexican shrimp cocktail, aka Cóctel de Camarón, is a fresh shrimp dish served chilled. It is refreshing with a hint of heat and served with tostada shells, saltine crackers, fresh limes and Valentina hot sauce. Next, the group will be preparing fish tacos two ways- grilled and fried. To finish the tacos, the group will be preparing pico de gallo and creamy baja sauce.
Rio Salado culinary workshops are designed for the beginner and are fun and low pressure. Workshops are hands on and participants will be standing for the majority of the workshop. Workshops are generally made up of 16 students and we work in teams of 4. We want the group to work safe, learn new techniques and recipes to their culinary repertoire and most importantly, HAVE FUN! Proper kitchen attire is required which includes: closed toe shoes, long pant and long or short sleeve shirt. Please restrain hair while in the kitchen.
